Caring Habitat Global Limited is recruiting to fill the position of Head Nurse at its rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility in Lekki-Ajah, Lagos.
Caring Habitat is a 40-room purpose-built inpatient skilled nursing and rehabilitation hospital focused on supporting patients through comprehensive rehabilitation programmes and quality healthcare services.
The successful candidate will provide senior leadership to the nursing department, oversee nursing staff, ensure high standards of patient care and support the efficient management of nursing operations.
Role Description
The Head Nurse will serve as a senior nursing professional responsible for leading the nursing team and ensuring the effective operation of the Nursing Department.
The role involves staff management, patient care oversight, resource allocation, quality improvement, multidisciplinary collaboration and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Nursing Leadership and Management
- Provide leadership to Matrons, Charge Nurses, Registered Nurses and Nursing Assistants.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures and protocols.
- Promote high standards of nursing practice.
- Collaborate with physicians, administrators, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals.
Staff Supervision
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring and training of nursing staff.
- Assign duties based on staff qualifications and competencies.
- Monitor staff performance and conduct regular evaluations.
- Address performance issues appropriately.
- Support the professional development of nursing personnel.
Patient Care
- Monitor nursing activities to ensure compliance with established standards and protocols.
- Provide guidance to nursing staff handling complex patient cases.
- Support high-quality rehabilitative and clinical care.
- Ensure patient safety, comfort and dignity.
- Promote effective multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
Resource Management
- Manage staffing levels, schedules and shift assignments.
- Allocate nursing supplies, equipment and medications effectively.
- Monitor resource utilization.
- Work within budgetary requirements and identify opportunities for efficient resource use.
Quality Improvement
- Implement initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes.
- Participate in audits, reviews and accreditation activities.
- Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Promote continuous improvement within the Nursing Department.
Communication and Collaboration
- Maintain effective communication among nursing staff and other departments.
- Collaborate with doctors, therapists and other healthcare professionals.
- Serve as a link between nursing personnel and hospital management.
- Promote teamwork within the multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Professional Development
- Stay informed about nursing best practices, regulations and developments in healthcare.
- Encourage continuous education and professional growth among nursing staff.
- Lead by example and promote a positive professional work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- At least a Postgraduate Degree in Nursing or another relevant field.
- A valid Nursing Licence (RN or equivalent).
- Minimum of 15 years of clinical nursing experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proven ability to manage nursing staff and coordinate patient care.
- Experience in rehabilitative care will be particularly relevant to the role.

Ideal Candidate
