Role Overview
The Civil Engineer job involves planning, designing, and overseeing construction and infrastructure projects from start to finish. The role also requires strong technical support skills, including offering on-site and remote guidance, resolving engineering challenges, and supporting different teams involved in project execution.
The ideal candidate will ensure that all projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in line with regulatory, safety, and quality standards, while also serving as a key technical resource.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review civil and structural designs, drawings, and specifications
- Develop project plans, cost estimates, and resource requirements
- Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and investigations
- Ensure all engineering designs meet regulatory, safety, and industry standards
- Provide technical advice and support to project teams and stakeholders
- Identify and resolve engineering and design challenges with practical solutions
- Supervise site activities to ensure compliance with approved designs and quality standards
- Coordinate contractors, architects, surveyors, and subcontractors
- Carry out site inspections, measurements, and material testing
- Offer hands-on technical support to resolve on-site issues
- Implement quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle
- Enforce environmental, health, and safety standards on-site
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and material usage
- Support procurement activities including material specifications and vendor evaluation
- Prepare reports, progress updates, and technical documentation
- Participate in project meetings and provide expert input
- Act as a link between site teams, management, and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records of project activities and technical decisions

Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional certification or COREN registration is an added advantage
- 3 to 5 years relevant experience in construction, infrastructure, or structural engineering
- Proficiency in engineering design and CAD software
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards
- Proven ability to provide technical support and resolve engineering issues
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
