Role Overview
The Relationship Manager will be responsible for managing and expanding customer relationships within the commercial banking segment. The role focuses on delivering value-driven financial services while maintaining strong risk management practices.
Successful candidates will work closely with clients to understand their financial needs, structure appropriate credit solutions, and ensure long-term customer satisfaction and profitability for the bank.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and market banking products to prospective customers through planned marketing activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Plan and report marketing calls and business development activities.
- Structure credit facilities to meet customer needs and prepare credit proposals for review.
- Monitor customer compliance with credit agreements and manage loan recovery processes when necessary.
- Present and defend credit proposals before the bank’s Credit Committee.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to Account Officers.
- Negotiate foreign exchange and credit rates within approved limits to maximize profitability.
- Track the performance of the banking unit against monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
- Prepare the unit’s annual budget and contribute to group financial planning.
- Compile and present the Monthly Profitability Report for management review.
- Evaluate the performance of supervised Account Officers.
- Prepare periodic reports for regional leadership and support strategic planning activities.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification will be considered an advantage.
- Minimum of five years of banking experience, with at least two to three years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong client relationship management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Professional attitude and ability to manage multiple client requests effectively.
- Knowledge of treasury services products is an added advantage.
- Experience in credit analysis, financial accounting, commercial lending, and loan structuring.
- Understanding of credit approval processes and ability to work with business and risk teams on credit requests.
