Job Summary
The EBC Manager will coordinate and oversee event activities from the pre-event planning stage through event execution and post-event follow-up. The role works closely with Sales, hotel departments, event customers, and Event Operations teams to ensure smooth delivery of events and consistently high service standards.
The successful candidate will also identify opportunities to maximize revenue through upselling, enhancements, and additional event services while maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Managing Event Logistics and Operations
- Prepare and coordinate event documentation and requirements.
- Work with Sales, hotel departments, and customers to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Coordinate event activities according to established procedures and service standards.
- Welcome customers during events and coordinate handover to the Event Operations team.
- Ensure billing information is accurate and conduct bill reviews with clients before final processing.
- Manage group room blocks and meeting spaces for assigned groups.
- Identify operational challenges and work with hotel staff and customers to develop effective solutions.
- Apply current trends in Event Management and event design where appropriate.
- Act as a liaison between field sales representatives and customers throughout the event lifecycle.
- Participate in customer site inspections and support the sales process when required.
- Gather feedback from hotel departments to identify opportunities for service improvement.
Delivering Exceptional Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service throughout the event experience.
- Encourage team members to maintain high guest service standards.
- Communicate event details clearly to customers and hotel operations teams.
- Maintain regular contact with customers throughout the event process.
- Handle guest concerns, complaints, and operational issues professionally.
- Suggest alternatives and solutions when arrangements require adjustment.
- Follow up with customers after events to obtain feedback.
- Use customer feedback to support continuous service improvement.
- Interact with guests to understand their views on product quality and service delivery.
- Ensure employees understand expectations and requirements for event activities.
Leading Event Management Teams
- Conduct pre-event and post-event meetings for assigned groups.
- Communicate group requirements, operational details, and customer feedback to relevant teams.
- Facilitate meetings such as Banquet Event Order meetings and group block reviews.
- Coordinate teams to ensure event requirements are understood and delivered effectively.
Supporting Sales and Marketing
- Assist with the sales process and revenue forecasting for customer groups.
- Identify opportunities to upsell hotel products and services.
- Forecast group room requirements and event revenue, including catering and audiovisual services.
- Support customer relationships throughout the event planning and delivery process.
Supporting Human Resources Activities
- Review guest comment cards and customer satisfaction results with employees.
- Observe employee service behaviours and provide constructive feedback.
- Assist with the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Use professional experience and judgment to improve service performance.
- Work with hotel staff and customers to resolve operational challenges.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates should meet one of the following qualification pathways:
- High School Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of experience in event management or a related professional area.
OR
- A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field, with at least 1 year of experience in event management or a related professional area.
