Network Administrator at Stretch-it Concepts
Stretch-it Concepts is recruiting on behalf of its client, an IT Solutions Company, for a skilled Network Administrator to join its IT Operations and Technical Services team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for administering, securing, monitoring, and maintaining the organisation’s network infrastructure across multiple locations while working closely with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and Datacenter Engineering teams.
Job Summary
The Network Administrator will take end-to-end responsibility for the organisation’s network infrastructure, including wireless access, IP addressing, VLANs, firewalls, and surveillance networks.
This is a dedicated technical position that requires strong network administration and troubleshooting skills, a security-conscious mindset, and the ability to work effectively across multiple sites.
The role reports directly to the Technical Lead, IT & Innovation, who will provide technical mentorship and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Management
- Administer, monitor, and maintain core and site-level network infrastructure.
- Ensure reliable network uptime, performance, and connectivity across all locations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related technical issues.
Network Security and SOC Collaboration
- Work closely with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) team to identify network security vulnerabilities.
- Analyse Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) affecting network infrastructure.
- Coordinate timely patching and remediation of identified vulnerabilities.
- Apply network hardening and security best practices.
Wireless Network Management
- Deploy, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot wireless Access Points across multiple sites.
- Ensure reliable, secure, and consistent wireless connectivity.
IP Address and VLAN Administration
- Maintain the organisation’s IP addressing scheme.
- Allocate and track IP addresses and prevent network conflicts.
- Design, configure, and maintain VLAN segmentation across switches and sites.
- Ensure appropriate network isolation, security, and traffic management.
Surveillance Network Management
- Manage the network infrastructure supporting CCTV and camera systems.
- Ensure reliable connectivity, uptime, and secure access for surveillance operations.
Firewall Administration
- Configure, monitor, and maintain Sophos Firewalls across the HUB, FifthLab, Arena, and Castew buildings.
- Manage firewall rules, VPN configurations, and security policies.
- Monitor firewall performance and address security or connectivity issues.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain current network diagrams and IP/VLAN registers.
- Keep firewall configuration records and other relevant technical documentation up to date.
- Provide regular network status reports to the Technical Lead.
Incident Response
- Investigate and resolve network incidents, including connectivity failures, security alerts, and device lockouts.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the Technical Lead when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in network administration, preferably within a multi-site environment.
- Working knowledge of Sophos Firewall administration or equivalent enterprise firewall platforms.
- Strong understanding of VLANs, IP addressing, subnetting, and wireless Access Point management.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management concepts.
- Experience collaborating with a SOC or security team on CVE remediation is an advantage.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Sophos certifications, or equivalent are an advantage.
