Human Resources Associate at Food Concepts Plc
Food Concepts Plc is recruiting a Human Resources Associate to support HR operations and employee services in its Lagos operations. The role covers recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration, employee benefits, welfare, performance management, disciplinary processes, grievance handling and staff records.
The successful Human Resources Associate will ensure HR activities comply with company policies, labour laws and established procedures while providing effective HR support to employees and management.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and HR Documentation
- Manage recruitment activities in line with company policies and approved workforce requirements.
- Coordinate job postings, interviews, assessments, medical checks and candidate care.
- Conduct reference, guarantor and other required background checks.
- Manage onboarding documentation and issue employment offer letters.
- Maintain recruitment trackers, workforce plans and time-to-fill reports.
- Ensure employees have the tools and working conditions required for effective performance.
Payroll and Benefits
- Prepare and deploy monthly payroll activities accurately and on time.
- Gather payroll inputs from stores and business units.
- Prepare pre-payroll variance reports covering new hires, exits, leave, absences, disciplinary actions, promotions and salary reviews.
- Update approved payroll information in the HR Information System.
- Prepare payroll, pension, tax, statutory deduction and other required reports.
- Handle new-hire and termination payroll calculations.
- Resolve employee payroll enquiries involving salaries, allowances, deductions, refunds and tax issues.
Employee Welfare and Engagement
- Coordinate employee incentive and recognition programmes.
- Manage employee registration and issues under the company’s HMO scheme.
- Coordinate uniform and staff accessory distribution.
- Manage staff meal documentation and payroll reporting.
- Track employee incidents and ensure timely resolution.
- Support staff forums and employee engagement activities.
Disciplinary and Grievance Management
- Support performance improvement and misconduct management processes.
- Coordinate disciplinary, investigatory and appeal hearings.
- Maintain records of disciplinary proceedings and outcomes.
- Track employee grievances and ensure timely resolution.
- Handle employee complaints fairly and confidentially.
- Take appropriate HR action regarding excessive absenteeism.
Performance and Records Management
- Coordinate performance appraisals across assigned business divisions.
- Prepare reports on appraisal outcomes, transfers, probation, recommendations and exits.
- Maintain employee files, records, certifications and correspondence.
- Track staff documentation and ensure records remain complete and up to date.
Requirements
- University Degree or equivalent in Industrial Relations and Labour or a related discipline.
- Membership of CIPM or another relevant professional qualification.
- 2–4 years of experience in an HR role.
- Knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR processes.
- Strong payroll and process-management knowledge.
- Good Excel and data-analysis skills.
- Understanding of performance management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good planning, scheduling and coordination abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Key Performance Indicators
The role will be assessed based on:
- Recruitment time-to-fill targets.
- Number of HR audit exceptions.
- Employee labour turnover rates.
- Timeliness of payroll and other HR activities.
- Completion of assigned HR projects and tasks.
