SIMS Nigeria Limited is recruiting to fill the position of CCTV Operator in Victoria Island, Lagos. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring surveillance systems, identifying suspicious activities, supporting security operations, and maintaining CCTV footage to protect employees, customers, facilities, inventory, and company assets.
The CCTV Operator will work closely with security personnel, management, and relevant departments to detect and respond to security incidents while maintaining strict confidentiality of surveillance information.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor multiple CCTV screens and assigned surveillance areas continuously.
- Operate remotely controlled cameras to pan, tilt, zoom, and change viewing positions where applicable.
- Detect suspicious activities, unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, accidents, and other unusual occurrences.
- Track persons and incidents across different surveillance areas.
- Communicate accurate incident details to security personnel and supervisors.
- Report faulty, damaged, poorly positioned, or non-functioning cameras.
- Detect and promptly report security breaches and emergencies.
- Review, retrieve, preserve, and store relevant CCTV footage for authorized investigations.
- Monitor access points and report unusual movement of people, goods, equipment, or inventory.
- Maintain accurate CCTV monitoring and incident reports.
- Record and escalate technical faults and unresolved security concerns.
- Protect CCTV recordings from unauthorized access, deletion, or alteration.
- Conduct routine checks on cameras, monitors, recording systems, and related equipment.
- Liaise with IT and technical teams to resolve CCTV system issues.
- Support security teams during emergencies and investigations by providing real-time surveillance information.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of surveillance recordings and security information.
- Follow company security, CCTV, privacy, safety, and data protection procedures.
- Perform other security-related duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- B.Sc. or HND in Computer Science, Security Management, Criminology, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Previous experience in CCTV monitoring, security operations, surveillance, loss prevention, or a related position is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of CCTV surveillance systems and security monitoring equipment.
- Ability to operate CCTV monitoring and recording systems.
- Strong observation and attention-to-detail skills.
- Good communication and incident-reporting abilities.
- Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
- Good computer literacy and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when required.
