Job Summary

BGE (Nigeria) Solar FZE is recruiting a qualified Power & Electrical Technician to join its technical operations team in Ogun State.

The Power & Electrical Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting high-voltage electrical systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, power distribution equipment, and industrial manufacturing machinery. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining reliable power supply and minimizing production downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on high-voltage electrical equipment.
• Maintain transformers, generators, power distribution panels, switchgear, and related electrical infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex industrial electrical faults, circuit failures, and motor control centre (MCC) issues.
• Diagnose electrical problems quickly and implement effective solutions to minimize production downtime.
• Monitor site power supply stability and backup power systems.
• Maintain and inspect power factor correction equipment.
• Carry out electrical wiring, installations, load balancing, and equipment connections.
• Interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams (SLDs) when installing and troubleshooting equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of facility electrical infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and prepare detailed electrical fault reports.
• Use appropriate high-voltage testing instruments and electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and high-voltage safety requirements at all times.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable industrial safety standards and company procedures.
• Respond to electrical emergencies and equipment breakdowns when required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability and operational uptime.

Requirements

Applicants for the Power & Electrical Technician position should possess one of the following:

• OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• Alternatively, a recognized Trade Test Grade I in Electrical Work.
• Strong practical experience with industrial electrical systems and power distribution equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and testing procedures.

Technical Skills

Candidates should demonstrate strong knowledge of:

• High-voltage power distribution systems
• Transformers and switchgear
• Three-phase electrical systems
• Industrial electrical wiring
• Motor Control Centres (MCC)
• Generators and backup power systems
• Power factor correction
• Electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
