The company specializes in the production of high-strength iron and steel products and operates one of the largest integrated steel plants in sub-Saharan Africa. Its manufacturing facility is located in Ogijo, Ogun State, Nigeria, with a production capacity of about 500,000 metric tons of reinforcement bars and related steel products annually.

Program Overview
The Graduate Trainee – Metallurgical and Materials Engineer will work closely with the engineering and production teams to support materials analysis and metallurgical processes within the manufacturing environment.
The program offers practical exposure to material testing, quality control procedures, and production processes while helping trainees develop professional engineering competencies under supervision.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in metallurgical testing and materials characterization, including hardness testing, tensile testing, and microstructure analysis.
- Support engineers in evaluating the performance and properties of metals, alloys, and other production materials.
- Participate in failure analysis to identify the causes of material defects or equipment breakdowns.
- Assist in quality control inspections to ensure materials meet company and industry standards.
- Support initiatives aimed at improving production efficiency and product quality.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations based on laboratory and production results.
- Assist in monitoring heat treatment, casting, welding, and fabrication processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and engineering regulations.
- Participate in training programs and mentorship activities to develop technical skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in a relevant field.
- Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
- Basic understanding of metallurgical processes and material testing techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic engineering software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based industrial environment.
