Job Summary
Stanbic IBTC Bank is recruiting a Coverage Head, North West to lead Commercial Banking coverage activities and drive business growth across the North West region.
The role involves translating Commercial Banking strategy into measurable coverage plans, revenue objectives, client acquisition initiatives, portfolio growth, and team performance. The successful candidate will also provide leadership in client relationship management, credit origination, risk management, digital adoption, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of Commercial Banking strategy through clearly defined coverage plans, portfolio objectives, and client-growth initiatives.
- Translate strategic goals into measurable business plans, financial targets, and sales activities.
- Drive profitable growth through the acquisition of target clients, increased wallet share, and deeper engagement with existing customers.
- Deliver revenue, profitability, deposits, assets, foreign exchange revenue, and non-interest revenue objectives.
- Establish performance scorecards and accountability frameworks for coverage teams.
- Monitor team performance against budgets and strategic objectives.
- Lead senior-level engagement with strategic clients and provide executive sponsorship for priority relationships.
- Ensure Relationship Managers develop and execute effective client relationship plans.
- Drive integrated solutioning across lending, transactional banking, trade finance, foreign exchange, treasury, insurance, cash management, and digital banking.
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, Credit, Risk, and Support teams to deliver effective customer solutions.
- Promote pricing discipline and optimize relationship economics within approved governance frameworks.
- Provide leadership across credit origination, portfolio reviews, transaction structuring, and portfolio optimization.
- Identify emerging portfolio risks, concentration exposures, watchlist accounts, and impairment trends.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, AML/CFT obligations, sanctions requirements, KYC standards, and conduct expectations.
- Review audit findings, assurance reports, and risk assessments and ensure appropriate remediation.
- Maintain effective business continuity, operational resilience, and first-line risk management practices.
- Champion the adoption of digital solutions, CRM platforms, management information tools, and sales effectiveness initiatives.
- Build high-performing teams through coaching, succession planning, leadership development, and talent management.
- Lead employee engagement, performance management, and capability development across the Commercial Banking coverage franchise.
- Represent Commercial Banking at governance, credit, risk, performance, and management forums.
- Optimize aspects of the distribution and client coverage network, including physical infrastructure and digital migration initiatives.
- Support initiatives aimed at improving sales effectiveness and transitioning from cost-of-service to cost-of-sales models.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates should have:
- A First Degree, preferably in Business Commerce or a related field.
- A strong understanding of Commercial Banking and client coverage.
- Experience in financial services, banking, relationship management, business development, or a related area.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of risk and reward considerations.
- Ability to develop and execute business strategies and coverage plans.
- Strong customer experience and relationship management capabilities.
- Ability to make sound business decisions and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to develop people, build high-performing teams, and drive accountability.
