The HR Manager will oversee recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation, HR policies, compliance, and workforce planning while supporting a positive and productive workplace culture.

About the Role
The successful HR Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership across the company’s human resources activities and serve as an important link between management and employees.
The role involves developing HR strategies aligned with business objectives, attracting and retaining talent, managing employee relations, supporting employee development, ensuring compliance with Nigerian labour laws, and using HR data to improve workforce decisions.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy and Workforce Management
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the company’s business objectives.
- Advise management on people-related matters and workforce planning.
- Review HR processes and recommend improvements that support business growth and efficiency.
- Maintain effective HR policies, procedures, and employee guidelines.
Recruitment and Talent Management
- Manage the full recruitment and selection process, from identifying staffing needs through to onboarding.
- Work with department heads to develop job descriptions and define hiring requirements.
- Ensure new employees are properly onboarded and integrated into the organization.
- Develop strategies for attracting, retaining, and developing high-performing employees.
Employee Relations and Workplace Culture
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and workplace issues.
- Manage employee relations matters fairly, professionally, and confidentially.
- Support conflict resolution and promote positive relationships between management and employees.
- Promote a professional, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.
- Coordinate employee engagement and team-building initiatives.
Performance Management and Development
- Coordinate the company’s performance management and appraisal processes.
- Work with managers to establish performance expectations and address performance gaps.
- Identify training and development needs across the organization.
- Coordinate relevant training, learning, and career development initiatives.
Compensation, Benefits and HR Administration
- Support the administration of salaries, benefits, leave, attendance, and other employment-related matters.
- Review compensation and benefits structures to ensure they remain fair and competitive.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive employee information.
HR Compliance and Policies
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable Nigerian labour laws and employment regulations.
- Review and update HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and employment documentation.
- Ensure consistent application of company policies and disciplinary procedures.
- Stay informed about changes in employment legislation and HR best practices.
HR Reporting and Analytics
- Monitor and report on key HR metrics, including employee turnover, recruitment timelines, attendance, and engagement.
- Prepare regular HR reports and provide insights to management.
- Use HR data to identify workforce trends and recommend appropriate actions.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates applying for the HR Manager position should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HR management, HR generalist, or a senior HR role.
- Proven experience managing employee relations, conflict resolution, recruitment, and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian labour laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and people-management abilities.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS or other HR management systems.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Professional certification such as CIPM, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR.
- Experience working in a rapidly growing or high-growth organization.
- Experience in the hospitality, food, restaurant, retail, or FMCG industry.
- Master’s Degree or advanced qualification in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
