About the Medical Officer II Role
The Medical Officer II will provide clinical care within family medicine under appropriate supervision. The successful candidate will manage patients across outpatient and inpatient settings, gradually taking on greater clinical responsibility while contributing to the safe and effective delivery of family medicine services.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients in family medicine with decreasing levels of supervision.
- Escalate complex or appropriate cases when necessary.
- Participate in outpatient clinics and ward rounds.
- Take part in on-call rotas and clinical procedures as required.
- Contribute to clinical audits and quality-improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
- Maintain current MDCN registration and licence in accordance with internal clinical policies.
- Work effectively with doctors, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Coordinate patient care with relevant clinical and support services.
- Support managed-care and HMO processes.
- Apply evidence-based and cost-effective clinical practices.
- Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the family medicine service.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognised institution.
- Current registration and licence with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of post-NYSC clinical experience.
- Experience at Medical Officer I grade or an equivalent level is required.
Required Skills
- Sound clinical knowledge relevant to family medicine.
- Strong clinical record-keeping skills.
- Competence in using hospital clinical systems.
- Effective communication with patients, families and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Good clinical judgement and appropriate escalation of cases.
