Beta Glass Plc is recruiting a Microbiologist for its Crowns Plant in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
Job Purpose
The Microbiologist will help ensure compliance with regulatory and food safety requirements by preventing, controlling, and eliminating microbiological risks associated with environmental conditions, personnel activities, and operational processes.
The role will support product quality, consumer safety, employee well-being, sustainability, and compliance with applicable management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, interpret, and report microbiological test results.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and consultants to support continuous improvement and compliance.
- Conduct sampling and coordinate in-house drinking water physicochemical and microbiological analyses.
- Ensure water testing activities comply with applicable regulatory standards.
- Coordinate air quality monitoring and personnel swab testing.
- Conduct food safety and hygiene assessments in line with regulatory requirements.
- Review internal clinic records to investigate food safety-related illnesses, injuries, or health concerns.
- Support measures aimed at preventing cross-contamination and promoting employee health and well-being.
- Monitor, review, and report on pest control activities.
- Ensure pest control activities are effectively implemented in accordance with food safety standards.
- Support Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) assessments and compliance initiatives.
- Serve as the facility’s Sustainability Representative and support sustainability programmes.
- Promote environmental responsibility across the facility.
- Participate in hazard analysis and risk assessment activities.
- Identify potential biological contamination risks and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of management systems.
- Coordinate preparations for internal and external audits relating to ISO 22000, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Microbiology, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Good mathematical skills for statistical analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer-focused approach and ability to work effectively with different stakeholders.
- Good understanding of microbiological testing, food safety, hygiene, and environmental monitoring will be an advantage.

The ideal candidate should be analytical, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of interpreting microbiological information accurately. Experience with food safety systems, environmental monitoring, regulatory compliance, and laboratory testing will be relevant to the position.
