Moniepoint Incorporated, a global business payments and banking platform serving more than 600,000 businesses, is recruiting to fill the position of Head, Category Management in Lagos.
The Head, Category Management will be responsible for driving revenue growth and protecting customer revenue beyond the initial customer onboarding period. The successful candidate will lead retention, contract renewals, and upselling strategies across different business categories and geographical markets.
This is a hybrid leadership role within Moniepoint’s Moniebook department, reporting directly to the General Manager.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of Category Managers and Brand Managers.
- Driving customer retention, contract renewals, and upselling initiatives across business categories and locations.
- Taking ownership of Month 3 and Month 6 customer retention and revenue expansion.
- Designing and conducting category and brand executive reviews for senior leadership.
- Developing a strong renewal governance framework to ensure contracts are proactively managed and renewals are not missed.
- Tracking, analyzing, and reporting key commercial metrics related to revenue protection and expansion.
- Working closely with Product, Marketing, and Customer Support teams to identify growth opportunities.
- Turning data-driven insights into practical commercial strategies that improve customer value and business performance.
What Success Looks Like
Success in the Head, Category Management role will be measured by:
- Maintaining Month 6 customer retention at or above 60%.
- Maintaining contract renewal rates at or above 90%.
- Generating upsell and cohort expansion revenue that exceeds combined Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) and Customer Retention Cost (CRC).
- Establishing a transparent renewal dashboard that provides visibility into potential contract lapses.
- Building an engaged, high-performing team that consistently meets targets and works effectively across departments.
Requirements and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- At least 8 years of progressive experience in account management, category management, customer retention, or related commercial leadership roles.
- Strong commercial and business acumen, including experience managing portfolios and negotiating high-value agreements.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to use customer and commercial data to guide strategic decisions.
- Experience developing and scaling commercial systems and frameworks in fast-growing organizations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in technology, fintech, SaaS, or other highly regulated industries is an advantage.
- Experience designing or implementing automated customer retention and renewal tracking systems is preferred.
- Experience managing customer portfolios across multiple regions or geographical markets is an advantage.
