The Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation (HSDF) is recruiting to fill the position of Internal Audit and Compliance Intern in Abuja (FCT).
HSDF is a not-for-profit organization established in 2013 to improve decision-making and execution across Nigeria’s health and social sectors. The organization works with government and private-sector stakeholders to deliver measurable and sustainable impact.
This is a paid internship offering practical exposure to Internal Audit processes, compliance, risk management and accountability within a dynamic, donor-funded nonprofit organization.

Job Summary
The successful candidate will support the Audit and Compliance team in retrieving, recording and reviewing internal processes and documentary evidence relating to HSDF’s activities.
The role provides hands-on experience in audit procedures, compliance monitoring, financial documentation, internal controls and risk assessment.
Responsibilities
The Internal Audit and Compliance Intern will:
- Support audit planning and execution across HSDF.
- Ensure compliance with donor, organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in reviewing financial records, payment vouchers and reconciliations for accuracy and compliance.
- Support internal audit engagements across departments and projects.
- Review payment requests and vouchers for proper coding and adequate documentation.
- Assist in preparing audit working papers, reports and supporting documentation.
- Verify bank reconciliation statements and identify potential errors.
- Review vehicle usage logbooks, repairs and fuel consumption.
- Assist with risk assessment and risk reporting.
- Archive audit and compliance documents and working tools.
- Collect, analyze and verify data to support audit findings.
- Document audit results and prepare working papers.
- Support monitoring of internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Learn and apply basic principles of internal control assessment.
- Liaise with members of audit teams during audit exercises.
- Perform other duties relevant to the position as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A minimum of a B.Sc. in Accounting, Banking and Finance or a related field.
- First Class or Upper Second-Class degree.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in accounting and/or auditing.
- An interest in becoming or pursuing a career as a professional accountant.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems.
- Relevant experience in audit support, data analysis or financial documentation is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- An evidence-driven, impact-focused and ownership-oriented approach to work.
NYSC corps members and prospective corps members serving in Abuja who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a Finance background.
