Domeo Resources International (DRI) is a management consultancy organisation providing HR and management solutions focused on organisational excellence, innovation, and improved business performance.
The company is recruiting a Storekeeper to manage the efficient receipt, storage, issuance, safeguarding, and control of hotel materials, supplies, equipment, food items, beverages, housekeeping supplies, engineering materials, office supplies, linen, uniforms, and other operating items.
The successful candidate will ensure accurate inventory records, proper storage conditions, authorised stock issuance, effective stock control, and compliance with internal control procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Receiving and Verification
- Receive goods, materials, equipment, and supplies delivered to the hotel.
- Verify deliveries against approved Purchase Orders (POs), Goods Received Notes (GRNs), delivery notes, and supplier invoices.
- Inspect items for quantity, quality, specifications, damage, and expiry dates.
- Reject damaged, expired, substandard, or incorrect items in line with established procedures.
- Ensure all received items are properly documented before acceptance.
- Work with Procurement and Cost Control teams to resolve delivery discrepancies.
Inventory Storage and Preservation
- Store inventory safely and systematically according to approved storage standards.
- Ensure food items are stored under appropriate temperature and hygiene conditions.
- Maintain separate storage areas for food, beverages, chemicals, engineering materials, housekeeping supplies, linen, uniforms, and general stores.
- Ensure proper labelling, shelving, and identification of inventory.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and secure storage areas.
- Protect inventory from theft, contamination, deterioration, damage, and unauthorised access.
Stock Issuance
- Issue inventory only against duly approved Store Requisition Forms (SRFs).
- Verify authorisation before releasing stock.
- Ensure accurate quantities are issued.
- Update inventory records immediately after stock issuance.
- Monitor emergency stock requests and report unusual consumption patterns.
- Maintain accountability for all issued materials.
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records using manual and computerised systems.
- Monitor stock balances daily.
- Ensure compliance with minimum, maximum, and reorder stock levels.
- Prevent stock shortages and excessive inventory.
- Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, expired, damaged, and excess stock.
- Recommend replenishment or disposal where appropriate.
Stock Counts and Reconciliation
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual stock counts.
- Participate in periodic physical inventory verification exercises.
- Reconcile physical stock with inventory records.
- Investigate stock variances and discrepancies.
- Prepare inventory adjustment reports where necessary.
- Support Cost Control and Internal Audit teams during stock verification exercises.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of receipts, issues, transfers, returns, and adjustments.
- Prepare GRNs, Stock Issue Vouchers (SIVs), Bin Cards, and inventory reports.
- Maintain an organised filing system for inventory documentation.
- Ensure inventory transactions are correctly entered into the inventory management system.
- Prepare regular inventory and stock movement reports.
- Report low stock levels and replenishment requirements promptly.
Cost Control and Loss Prevention
- Support the Cost Controller in monitoring inventory usage and reducing wastage.
- Apply FIFO and FEFO inventory management principles where applicable.
- Prevent losses caused by spoilage, theft, damage, pilferage, or unauthorised issuance.
- Report unusual inventory movements immediately.
- Recommend measures for inventory optimisation and cost reduction.
Health, Safety and Hygiene
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Maintain proper housekeeping within storage facilities.
- Ensure chemicals and hazardous materials are stored safely.
- Observe fire safety and occupational health requirements.
- Report unsafe storage conditions.
- Participate in safety inspections and emergency drills.
Equipment and Asset Management
- Maintain storage equipment, racks, shelves, pallets, and inventory-handling tools.
- Report damaged storage equipment for repair or replacement.
- Monitor hotel operating equipment held in the warehouse.
- Support asset identification and inventory tagging exercises.
- Safeguard company property under store custody.
Teamwork and Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Procurement, Cost Control, Kitchen, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Engineering, Finance, and Internal Audit teams.
- Support smooth supply chain operations across departments.
- Assist external auditors during inventory audits.
- Maintain professional relationships with suppliers during deliveries.
- Promote teamwork within the Stores and Procurement function.
Requirements
- ND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing & Supply, Logistics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in inventory management, stores operations, warehouse management, or logistics.
- Experience in a luxury hotel, hospitality establishment, or large commercial organisation is highly desirable.
- Experience with inventory management software or ERP systems is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management software.
Preferred Certifications
- Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN).
- Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
- Inventory and Warehouse Management certification.
