Nico AgriFarms Limited is a Nigerian poultry farming company committed to sustainable farming practices, animal welfare, and the production of quality poultry products. The company is recruiting a Pen Attendant to support daily poultry farm operations in Ogun State.
Job Summary
The Pen Attendant will be responsible for maintaining clean and hygienic poultry houses, caring for birds, monitoring their wellbeing, and supporting general farm operations. The role is suitable for candidates interested in Poultry Farming and hands-on agricultural work.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect poultry pits, pens, floors, walls, and other areas of the poultry houses.
- Remove and properly dispose of poultry waste and other materials.
- Clean and sanitize feeders, drinkers, and farm equipment.
- Monitor the health and wellbeing of birds and report signs of illness or distress to the Farm Manager.
- Assist with feeding and watering poultry.
- Ensure birds have access to clean water and adequate feed.
- Monitor ventilation, temperature, air quality, and lighting within poultry houses.
- Maintain records of cleaning activities, waste disposal, poultry observations, and equipment issues.
- Monitor cleaning supplies and report low stock levels.
- Follow farm safety, hygiene, and biosecurity procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with general farm maintenance and other duties as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with other farm staff to maintain efficient operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in poultry farming or a related agricultural role is preferred.
- Basic understanding of animal care and welfare.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in varying weather and farm conditions.
- Ability to work around poultry houses where dust and strong odors may be present.
- Willingness to handle cleaning chemicals and perform repetitive tasks.
- Applicants must be willing to live on the farm, with accommodation provided.
