Lily Hospitals Limited is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Intern to join its laboratory team in Warri, Delta State.
The Medical Laboratory Intern will gain practical experience in a professional clinical laboratory environment while working under the supervision of qualified Medical Laboratory Scientists. The role provides exposure to specimen processing, laboratory procedures, quality control, equipment maintenance, documentation, and laboratory safety practices.
This opportunity is suitable for Medical Laboratory Science graduates who want to strengthen their practical skills and gain professional experience in a hospital laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, process, and assist with the analysis of patient specimens under professional supervision.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures according to established protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of laboratory reagents, media, and equipment.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, processing, and storage of specimens.
- Assist with laboratory equipment maintenance and cleaning of work areas.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Follow infection prevention, laboratory safety, and medical waste management procedures.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training programs, and continuous learning activities.
- Carry out other laboratory duties assigned by the Head of Laboratory.
Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.
- A current practising licence or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop practical laboratory skills.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures accurately.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional ethics.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
- Must reside in Warri or be willing to relocate to the location.
