Job Overview
The Fleet Tracking Officer will monitor the real-time movement of trucks transporting company products from warehouses to customers and depots. The successful candidate will ensure complete visibility of vehicles in transit, identify operational issues, respond promptly to incidents, and support safe, timely deliveries across the company’s distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
Real-Time Fleet Monitoring
The successful candidate will:
- Monitor trucks using GPS tracking and fleet management systems.
- Track vehicle locations, speed, movement, and estimated time of arrival (ETA).
- Monitor truck seals and delivery milestones where required.
- Ensure every dispatched truck remains visible until delivery is completed.
Transit Coordination
Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining regular communication with drivers and transport providers.
- Providing delivery progress updates to warehouse, sales, and customer service teams.
- Escalating delays, vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and security concerns.
- Supporting route optimisation and recovery plans.
Incident Management
The role also involves:
- Reporting truck diversions, hijackings, theft, accidents, and prolonged delays immediately.
- Maintaining incident records and following up until resolution.
- Coordinating with security personnel, transport providers, and logistics teams.
Compliance
The Fleet Tracking Officer will:
- Ensure compliance with approved routes and journey management procedures.
- Monitor transporters’ compliance with company transportation standards.
- Coordinate pre-trip inspections before assigning shipments.
- Verify that Goods-in-Transit (GIT) insurance remains valid and meets company requirements.
- Ensure adherence to safety and security procedures.
Reporting
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare daily truck movement and delivery status reports.
- Document route deviations, detention periods, and delivery exceptions.
- Maintain accurate communication and transit records.
- Produce daily pan-Nigeria depot operations reports.
- Prepare daily Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be measured using:
- Truck visibility rate.
- On-Time & In-Full (OTIF) delivery performance.
- ETA accuracy.
- Incident response time.
- Route deviation resolution time.
- Timeliness of delivery updates across sales areas.
- Accuracy of daily operational reports.
- GIT insurance compliance rate among transporters.
Qualifications
Interested candidates should possess:
- A Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Computer Science, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Between 2 and 4 years of experience in logistics, transportation operations, or fleet monitoring.
Required Skills

- Good knowledge of GPS tracking and fleet management systems.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
