Job Summary
The NDT Inspector will perform, witness, and review non-destructive testing on welds, materials, and industrial equipment. The successful candidate will ensure all inspection methods, procedures, personnel, equipment, and records comply with approved codes, project specifications, and quality standards while maintaining accurate documentation and traceability.
Key Responsibilities
As an NDT Inspector, you will:
- Review NDT procedures, inspection requests, weld maps, drawings, examination coverage, and acceptance criteria before testing.
- Verify technician certifications, visual acuity, equipment calibration, consumables, reference standards, and environmental conditions.
- Perform or witness Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and radiographic film interpretation within authorised certification limits.
- Confirm examination stages, identification, scanning patterns, sensitivity, coverage, and traceability.
- Accurately interpret indications and evaluate inspection results against applicable engineering codes and project specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive NDT reports detailing equipment, calibration, inspection coverage, findings, and examiner approvals.
- Maintain weld status records, repair traceability, rejection trends, and release status to prevent unapproved work from being concealed or coated.
- Coordinate radiation safety activities during radiographic inspections with authorised radiation personnel.
- Escalate significant or ambiguous inspection findings to the responsible NDT Level III personnel.
- Support root cause investigations and repair verification activities.
Key Performance Indicators
Successful performance will be measured by:
- Accurate and timely NDT report submission.
- Complete inspection documentation and data traceability.
- Early identification of quality trends and defects.
- Reduction in reporting errors and duplicate records.
- Compliance with inspection schedules.
- Proper calibration of inspection equipment.
- No unauthorised release of rejected or uninspected work.

- Valid personnel certifications and calibration records.
Requirements
To qualify for this NDT Inspector position, applicants should possess:
- Technical Diploma, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial Non-Destructive Testing experience involving welds, piping, pipelines, storage tanks, structural steel, or pressure equipment.
- Current employer authorisation and documented experience for each NDT method performed.
- Ability to interpret weld maps, isometric drawings, engineering drawings, NDT procedures, and applicable acceptance criteria.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and reporting accuracy.
Preferred Certifications
The following certifications will be an added advantage:
- ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ASNT CP-189, ISO 9712, or equivalent Level II certification.
- Radiographic film interpretation certification or employer authorisation.
- Knowledge of industry standards including:
- ASME Section V & IX
- ASME B31 Series
- AWS D1.1
- API 650, API 653, API 570
- ASTM E165 and ASTM E709
- Project-specific quality and acceptance standards
