Job Summary

The Head, Corporate & Commercial Banking will develop and implement the bank’s Corporate & Commercial Banking strategy, strengthen client relationships, drive profitability, and lead business development initiatives. The successful candidate will also provide strategic leadership to the department while ensuring sustainable growth and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to the Corporate & Commercial Banking department.
• Develop and implement departmental strategies and marketing plans.
• Identify new business opportunities and expand the bank’s corporate client portfolio.
• Supervise Team Leads to ensure achievement of business targets and profitability.
• Strengthen customer relationship management to increase the bank’s share of wallet.
• Grow the bank’s risk assets while maintaining quality credit standards.
• Lead people management and client relationship initiatives across the department.
• Ensure adequate business resources and documentation are available for smooth operations.
• Prepare reports and provide relevant information to senior management.
• Identify staff training needs and recruitment gaps.
• Build effective relationships with Head Office units to improve service delivery.
• Promote collaboration across Strategic Business Units (SBUs).
• Drive organizational change and team performance.

Requirements

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• A postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certification is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant corporate banking experience or 15 years of banking experience with at least 6 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Banking operations
  • Financial analysis
  • Business law
  • Financial advisory services
  • Leasing and trade services
  • Banking regulations
• Good understanding of risk management, credit policies, and procedures.
• Practical experience in:
  • Credit analysis and administration
  • Relationship management

• Strong understanding of economic trends affecting the banking and finance sector.
• Public sector banking experience will be an added advantage.
